The Casio GA-100-1A1ER from the G-Shock Originals series is one of the experts in the line. Besides the usual features of the shockproof, waterproof watch, this model offers some even more precise, more special, and better functions, all reflected in the sleek black-on-black look of the case, strap, and dial.
As with all newer models, the dark dial can be activated with a slight turn of the wrist; this movement activates the light-emitting diodes and illuminates the display. This model first shows the usual values, namely the date with weekday and the time in 12- or 24-hour format. The analog time display also runs continuously, giving this highly technical watch a pleasantly classic appearance. World time can be shown in up to 29 time zones. The stopwatch on the Casio GA-100-1A1ER measures to 1/1000 of a second and can run for up to 100 hours—a real advantage for long-term recordings and ongoing activities. It displays elapsed time, split time, and end time.
The timer can be set for up to 24 hours; it signals when the time is up and can then be automatically restarted. The daily alarm reminds you of recurring events with a signal. Five different alarms can be set for different times. If an alarm is used as a wake-up call, the snooze function can also be used, because who wants to miss those extra minutes of snooze in the morning!
For athletes, the speed display is interesting, which measures the average speed over a covered distance. This works simply by entering the distance at the start of the activity and then measuring the actual time with the stopwatch. Swimmers and divers take the watch with them to time their dives or to keep track of time; the watch is waterproof up to 20 bar and thus even suitable for free diving.
The sporty watch, which already shows with its design that performance is the main goal, naturally has the features typical of a G-Shock watch, which with its hollow case best protects the technical inner workings from shocks and impacts. The cushioning parts of the synthetic resin of the resin strap and case, as well as the hard, scratch-resistant mineral glass, ensure that the watch becomes a long-term companion, whether in everyday life or during sports, whether in the office or in the field. A special feature for all tactical operators is the antimagnetic property of the case, which shields the watch from magnetic fields.
With a battery life of 2 years per battery, the watch is also reliable in terms of energy consumption.
