Sunrise at Lake Oeschinen – why good gear makes the difference

The alarm rings at 4:30 a.m. Outside it is still dark, and inside the tent lies that special quietness known only in the mountains. Lake Oeschinen lies calm below the Blüemlisalp, the water black as glass. It is one of those moments for which one rises early – and must be prepared.

When opening the tent, the cool morning air greets me. I put on my breathable outdoor jacket, which already protected me from the wind yesterday.
